Do you really want peace?
A Questionnaire
Way back in 1986 I designed this questionnaire as a brochure. We had great fun as my students wrote down their honest answers to the questionnaire and as a group took turns reading the question results out loud. There would be much groaning and laughter as the "Partial" and "No" results for each answer turned up to be read. Inevitably, the students saw themselves accepting partial, or many times, negative stances on peace in their lives. This became a fun, yet effective eye opener.
Well, where do you stand on the subject of peace in your life? Do you want it? Try this test. You may be very surprised at the results! But remember, you must be absolutely honest in your answers.
After each question choose the response you feel is a truly honest answer.
1. Am I willing for my life (or specific area) to change in order to find peace?
Yes______________Partially_____________No____________
2. Am I willing to give over total control of my life (or specific area) to Divine Guidance?
Yes_______________Partially_____________No_____________
3. Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to correct all my thoughts about my life (or specific area?)
Yes_______________Partially____________No______________
4. Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to direct all my actions in my life (or specific area?)
Yes_______________Partially____________No______________
5. Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to direct everyone else without my interference?
Yes_______________ Partially_____________No______________
6. Am I willing to question all my thoughts and actions once again, and once more against this questionnaire?
Yes_______________Partially_____________No______________
Now check the results of your answers:
1 — "Am I willing for my life (or specific area) to change in order to find peace?"
YES— I am willing to allow change. As long as I am willing for change then I am not blocking the peaceful resolution to unfold in my life (or specific area). My full willingness for change will open me to the full answer which will fully correct my problems.
PARTIONALLY— I am only partially willing for change and so allow only a limited resolution of the problem and open to inconsistent peace in my life (or specific area).
N0—I refuse to allow change to occur in my life (or specific area). I want my life to remain just the way it is. I refuse peace and want to keep pain instead!
2 —"Am I willing to give over total control of my life (or specific area) to Divine Guidance?"
YES—I give over control of my life (or specific area) to Divine Guidance since God has the Power to change and correct all problems and I don't. All weight of responsibility lifts off my shoulders as I place control on the One capable of carrying it.
PARTIONALLY— I partially give up control of my life ( or specific area) to Divine Guidance. I will allow God to control only a limited part of my problems and choose to carry the rest of the burden myself. I want only inconsistent release from worry.
NO— I retain total control of my life (or specific area) and choose to carry all my burdens alone. I choose to continue to struggle since I cannot correct things myself and choose to constantly fail and remain frustrated.
3—"Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to correct all my thoughts about my life (or specific area?)"
YES—I am willing for all my random as well as carefully developed thought to be guided and so find my mind filled with Divine love, loving perspective and Divine inspiration about my life (or specific area.)
PARTIALLY—I am only partially willing for my thoughts to be corrected by Divine Guidance and want only limited insight and inconsistent inspiration in my life (or specific area).
NO—I refuse to allow my thoughts about my life (or specific area) to be corrected by Divine Guidance and want to continue to think in a painful way
4—"Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to direct all my actions in my life (or specific area)?"
YES—I am willing to allow Divine Guidance to direct all my actions and find my words and deeds are always powerfully correct and peaceful in my life (or specific area.)
PARTIALLY— I want only part of my actions directed by Divine Guidance and choose to be sometimes embarrassed and guilty about what I say and do in my life (or specific area)
NO— I refuse to let my actions be directed by Divine Guidance and open myself to constant embarrassment, failure and guilt in my life (or specific area).
5—– "Am I willing to allow Divine Guidance to direct everyone else without my interference?"
YES—I am willing to allow Divine Guidance to take care of everyone else since I am not even able to take care of myself. I trust God's Wisdom to be available to them and I give them freedom to choose Divine Guidance, just like me.
PARTIALLY—I only partially allow Divine Guidance to direct everyone else, and therefore, inconsistently help and hinder everyone else in finding peace.
NO— I refuse to allow Divine Guidance to direct everyone else and insist on obstructing Help from entering their lives by interfering with my advice and projections of my worries and anger onto them.
6—"Am I willing to question all my thoughts and actions once again, and once more against this Questionnaire?"
YES—I am willing to question my thoughts, my actions, my answers for a courageous exploration of my motivation. I am willing to start again, and again. Peace is here NOW and I want it!
PARTIALLY— I want to only partially question my thoughts, my actions and motivations so I can sometimes keep my problems and sometimes find peace. I choose a rollercoaster of emotions.
NO— I refuse to question my thoughts, actions and motivations and want to continue to hide my true feelings and needs from myself. I believe I already know the answers and refuse to
admit I may be wrong. I want misunderstanding, chaos and unhappiness to remain in my life. I refuse to help myself.
Now that you have seen the result of your willingness, you can choose once more for peace!
