R. A. L. F. - how to get the Answer

You know the Answer is there when you need it, but wait, there's more!

You knew that was coming, didn’t you? There are actual simple but important parts that are included in this process of letting go. So, in case you need a little more help, let’s take a look at them.

In one of my books (Hand and Hand – Recovery & Miracles, see left column) I lay out these parts by using four letters as little reminder helpers. I believe it is imperative to review them here. This, you really need to remember.

R – This stand for recognizing that you actually have a problem that needs help. You may have to do a little soul searching to recognize you are not just unhappy but that you are angry with someone or something, or depressed about a specific loss, just for example. Defining this to yourself is important. You may need to journalize or talk to a professional, a preacher, or an insightful friend to help you get clarity.

A – Asking that Inner Voice, or High Power takes a little finesse. You can even scream at it if you want, It won’t mind. In fact, there is a native American method of going out into the desert. Digging a small hole. Lying face down with your fact in the hole and screaming your problem and discontent to Mother Earth with the faith that She will know what to do. And by the way, your sleeping pillow can work just as well.

L - O.K. you’ve had a great pity party and raged about your discontent. Now just shut up and LISTEN.

            Does that sound harsh?

Well, how can you hear an answer if you keep on screaming or crying or just general kvetching. You have already spent enough time, maybe even years, complaining so now it’s time to be quiet and let an answer show up.

Important point: Answers come in all shapes and sizes. And sometimes they take a little time to unfold. Patience is not just a virtue but a necessity now. You may be lucky and have an angelic visitation telling you what to do, but in all likelihood a gentle nudge or even an inner light bulb within will give you an idea. Perhaps you will see it on someone’s Facebook post or hear it on your favorite TV show. But, rest assured, when the Answer is there you will notice it.

Another important point: The answer just feels peacefully right and you think, “Of course!”

F – Following that insight or advice you have received is not always as simple as it sounds. So, just in case this presents another challenge, just start the process from the beginning by Asking a new question, “How can I accomplish what I know is the right action?” Listening for the more specific steps. And then Following the guidance.

How many times, though, do you define your issue, know what the next healing action should be and then…stall. Taking the final, action steps will sometime call for courage and always for discipline. Now is as good a time as any to perfect that skill.
