This Instant
Curriculum for ‘A Course in Miracles’, was developed and refined
over a twelve year period starting in 1978, the same year I had begun traveling
around the country helping other students
to understand this sublime yet often frustratingly difficult material.
(During this early time, Paul Steinberg was my initial mentor and lecture
partner. He passed away in 1986.)
The Course’s
vocabulary is consistently defined within itself. Commonly accepted religious
concepts were turned upside down and psychological theory expanded beyond
science into the metaphysical. When studying the Course every student is thrust
into an unrelenting quest for peace by walking through his or her darkest fears
and jealously guarded coping mechanisms. Not an easy or pleasant experience! As
J. R. Richmond, my friend and co-author of one of my other books, Side by
Side — the Twelve Steps and ‘A Course in Miracles’ once stated, “. . . soon
‘A Course in Miracles’ begins to seem like a ‘curse’ in miracles!”
Therefore, as I traveled from one
study group to another throughout the United States, as well as Australia and
Canada, the natural extension of these workshops morphed in 1988 into a
correspondence program. Here you will find that program essentially unchanged
and now published here as a self-study guide. Over many years, hundreds of
students enrolled and completed the original ‘one year’ correspondence system.
These dedicated students became proficient in reading, studying and applying
Course concepts. Many went on to become group leaders and nationally recognized
teachers helping other struggling students of the Course.
Now, the time had come to print this
program in a new and convenient format so that anyone anywhere could have at
their fingertips an instant curriculum for personal study or group work.
May this guide be a link in the
mighty chain of forgiveness forged in the Mind of God and His Son and offered
for the salvation of the world by the Holy Spirit.
(Stay tuned! My next blog will give you a little bit more of the "Instant Curriculum" to enjoy)
