Alpha to Omega, a story of time. . .(reprinted from "Sacred Steps")

Time moves on and our lives are constantly changing. Nothing seems sure and firm. I take comfort watching the flow of the seasons, the cycles that nature gracefully follows - a dance of rising high in spring, twirling through summer, leaning and slowing in fall, and stretching out to rest in winter. And then the dance begins once more.  My life from day to day and year to year from beginning to seeming end follows this dance as does yours.  And so too, is seems, does the Universe. Here is a tale of this dance, if you wish, but one told by wise men throughout the ages that speaks of unimaginable lengths of time called Yugas.
         
From out of the vast stillness, the Essence of God, comes the outer expression of His creative Thought.  There are as many different explanations of why and how this occurs as there are philosophies in the world to discuss this . . . and yet one theme weaves its way through them all. Beyond time and space, beyond the idea of form lies the realm containing the thought, the desire and the passion of Life.  Here the journey begins and here it will ultimately end. In this realm of timeless being Life begins its journey to awareness.  Here mind decides and develops, desires and designs.  Here the beginning of expression will ‘leave’ the mind to wander in projected dreams through waves of black velvet moving across vast darkness.  First, here is quiet, rest and waiting.  Here in this place in mind all IS mind and thought is still.

Perhaps there is a stirring!  A sudden pause in the stillness occurs.  A small intense, almost painfully sharp insistence might begin to stab at the mind.  A restlessness and a sense of need somehow is born.  Though unknown before, an inner aching begins to grow nibbling from the center of mind ‘outward’.  The obsession grows and  restlessness creates a yearning to find and bring to it that special something that can still its restlessness once more.  Time is born--for now the time has come to begin the search for understanding and the remembrance of Home.

Thus, from the reality of formless Spirit comes a flow of experiences splintering and devolving into manifestation and then evolving once more to the remembrance of spiritual essence. A devolving and evolving from Alpha back to Omega, beginning to end.

In (the) next section (of the book 'Sacred Steps') we will explore a condensation of this devolving and evolving process using the symbol of a clock; and we will count off the cycle of Alpha to Omega in fifteen minute intervals.  From the first thrust outward of consciousness to its reintegration and dissolution into the essence of God once more, we will travel around the Universe in 60 minutes. . . .
