Riding the Slipstream of Serenity

Sitting by my window,

gazing into the distance,

I rested my mind for a moment

choosing not to think,

just to be.

Time changed,

motion undulated,

and a strand of reality streamed by.

This river flowed from right to left

swerving gently around small obstructions,

thoughts and feelings,

desires and fears.

I chose to focus on the silver stream,

not quite visible, not quite tangible,

but, oh, so compelling,

running through all life.

Breathing deeply I rested,

and then gently wrote these words.

Perhaps next time I will not just watch and write,

but step instead into the flowing slipstream,

and become

serenity itself.
