I don’t know about you, but there have been times this past year when I seemed to be surrounded by nothing but idiots, people that were petty, tactless, irresponsible, oblivious. . .oh, well, you know what I mean. And I didn’t react well at all in those circumstances. Of course, that simply meant I was probably the biggest idiot of them all, especially in their eyes.
And so, that leads me to contemplate what I would like to put on a list for my New Year’s resolutions.
Hmm, first I would like to embrace more fully the morning contemplations I share with Dan. That time together is so precious, uplifting and sets the tone for the whole day. The benefits are measureless and I greedily want to immerse myself even more deeply in the experience.
Secondly, I would like to take a little more time each day acknowledging the amazing messages of love, encouragement and guidance that stream from my friends through their postings on face book each day. That means you, and I so appreciate those reminders!
Next, it’s those idiots and my own idiotic response to them. Ahhh, may I have more patience, more compassion, greater understanding and a huge dose of willingness to be of help without the need for my ego to fix others. After all, I can’t even fix myself, I can only ask the Holy Spirit to guide me through the muck and mire of my yucky ego thinking.
That will be a nice beginning for my list – of course, I leave the list open ended to be added to as the months move forward.
I am sure there will be more and more to add. (And if you don’t mind, I will probably share those additions with you in this blog next year, as sharing helps the healing process for me, and just maybe for you, too. At least I hope so.)
