A New Start for the Spring - Two NEW Gifts for you to read and enjoy!

Time for a new start!  We will  begin two new gifts for you to enjoy this Spring.
First, this month we will switch from reviewing the first few sections of the book 'Sacred Steps' (to be published this Fall), to selections from 'Hand in Hand', companion book to 'Side by Side - the Twelve Steps and a Course in Miracles, sections of which you can enjoy on each Wednesday in this blog space.
Second, this month starting on Friday we will have a 'FUN DAY' - with selections that will bring a smile to the child within.
I hope you will enjoy these new adventures just as much as I am in sharing these with you.

(the following section is reprinted from 'Hand in Hand - Recovery and Miracles', an indepth look at the mind, co-dependency, relationships, meditation and, of course, healing)

Let's start with. . .

The Process of Inspiration

Every genius throughout time has admitted to one thing: their ideas came from "beyond" them. Linear deduction from already accumulated information can only take one along an already developed line of thinking.  But inspiration comes unannounced, bursting forth into a mind ready and willing to receive it.
A truth still resisted and yet again and again seen to be active within us all is the ability to grasp ideas and concepts undiscovered before.  Where does this insight come from and how can we call upon it when we need it?

Leap of Faith

Deep within ourselves is a pool, a reservoir of undeveloped and unexpressed ideas.  In our everyday experiences we rarely dip into this unending sea of wisdom.  Yet, whether called the collective unconscious, Universal Mind, or even our soul, this relatively untouched treasure house is ours to reach.  Here is where the cold, hard facts of life must gently dissipate into a letting go of reason and a leaping into faith.  No matter your spiritual beliefs this area of mind is there.  Label it according to your comfort level, but remember, here is where insight and creativity emerge from the unconscious into expression.
Underneath all the hoopla surrounding the process of tapping into the reservoir is a simple technique begun with just one question, "Am I willing to surrender what my logic demands to what my inner knowing offers?"  To reach this point in attitude takes some readjustment to how you approach your mind and the thinking process.  You have been taught to use deductive reasoning, accumulate facts, information, advice and suggestions and then after due deliberation, reach a solution.  So far so good.  This has been and still is sound practice.  The key will be, however, to sift through the often conflicting information and advice and pluck out the wisdom hidden somewhere within.  To do this the next step must be learned.
'To one's own self be true' still works.  Here we go beyond logic into emotion.  Years of learning to camouflage feelings from others as well as ourselves becomes the boulder on the path to insight.  Relearning to read the messages written upon our hearts has begun to reach the forefront of the public's awareness through the self-help groups for chemical abuse and co-dependency.    Here, observation of the dynamics of addiction and the mal-supportive activities of families and friends shows a basic and unfortunate flaw.  No one is ever looking honestly at what they are feeling or labeling correctingly what they are doing, and so the addict escapes into oblivion and the co-dependent attempts to control the uncontrollable through rescuing.  Fear, anger, frustrations and even love become submerged under layers of mislabels.
There is no way to discover creative inspiration if you are unable to discern its difference from the chaotic yet often times logical arguments churning within your mind.  And so the process of learning to identify emotions correctly, leading to the opening of, until now, unknown wisdom must take some time and lots of practice.
Let these pages offer steps for learning how to take that leap from logic to faith, and discover the untold potential within you.

(Next Monday we will explore the Mind-Brain Connection)
